The Boys' New Pirate Room

In case you did not read the old post about my boys' room , I have two boys and they share a room. They are about 9 years apart so I did not want anything to babyish or to teen like. I decided that pirates would be perfect. I looked all over and online to find something cute that they would both like. Everything was either to young, to old or way to expensive. I decided to try to do it by myself. I am beginning to feel a little more confident with my decorating and thought why not.

This is their room before

And, this is there room now.

This is Gabriels bed. I bought the comforter at Target for $17 and ordered the patch online for $4.

This is Brandons bed and I already had the comforter. I ordered his sheets off of ebay for $20. It came with the fitted and flat sheet and two pillow cases.

I bought these frames from IKEA for $2 each and printed the pictures from my computer.

I painted the pirate boat from a stencil and added Brandons pirate name. Instead of Capt. Black Beard he is our Capt. Black Brandon.

This was an existing frame that I removed the picture from. Brandon painted this treasure map and did a fine job I might add.
This is Brandons dresser and I found these wooden pirate decals at the dollar store.

This vintage pirate ship actually used to be Adams when he was a little boy.

This ship and the skeleton below I found at Michael's. I don't remember exactly how much they cost but they were around $10 each.

I have no idea where this treasure chest came from but we already had it so that worked out perfect.

I bought this fabric from Joann's and made a pillow case for both of the boys' beds. I bought Gabriel white sheet set from Walmart for $7 and the 4 pirate patches online.

These frames also came from IKEA. I think they were like $5 for both of them. The decals are the same ones from the dollar store.

And this of course is Gabriels painting. It is of a Pirate if you couldn't tell. He is so proud of it and I am so proud of him.

Why I love to Go To Garage Sales!

I have been going to garage sales with my mom for a while. My mom loves it and so do I. We would always go through the paper Wednesday night and circle the sales that we wanted to go to Thursday. We would get up early Thursday morning and begin our adventure. I love a good deal as much as anyone but it was so nice to spend time with my mom. Last weekend however, I drug my family out to go with me. They were so excited to be joining me in this adventure ( I hope you caught my sarcasm). We only had a limited time and I found a lot of baby and toddler clothes like I always do but I also found a decorative plate holder. I knew that I wanted it as soon as I saw it but when I saw the price I was in heaven. $1. That is all they wanted. To me it was worth way more. I was so excited and so the wheels began to turn. When I got home I was wondering where to hang it and what I was going to put on it. I do not have extra plates to hang so I decided to paint a couple from our old set.

These are nice plates but we updated to new ones about a year ago. These have been sitting in a box in our crawl space so I decided why not try to paint them and see what I can come up with. My kitchen is accented in blues and browns and the plate holder is white.

Sorry, this is not the best picture.

I did not want anything to fancy because nothing else in my kitchen is. I took my paints out and decided to keep it simple and paint two of them blue and two brown. I really like the way they turned out and it is just another thing to say that I did myself.

Our New Farm House Table

I am so excited about my new kitchen table. As soon as I saw it over at Ana's Knock-Off Wood blog I knew that I had to have one. My wonderful fiance got to work and made a perfect one for me. He is also making a bench for one side of it but I am anxiously awaiting its arrival. It is perfect in everyway and I am so excited to share it with you.

Please don't mind the clutter on the floor. I was cleaning out our crawl space so that it would no longer be the scariest place on earth.

Abbies Bedroom Update

Abbie is very much into peace signs, love and everything 70s. I think this holds true for all teen and preteen girls right now. We went through and updated her room to fit her interests a little better and the both of us are happy. This room still needs some work but it is headed in the right direction.

This is a chair that I found on the side of the road for free.

This table I received from my mom and dad from IKEA

The duvet also came from IKEA and the peace sign sheets I found on ebay. I made the deocrative pillow from fabric that I bought from Walmart.

I painted this piece sign for Abbie.

The fire place screen that I love was purchased from The Goodwill for $20.

I just hung these curtains yesturday. It is the same fabric that I made her pillows from and the sheers are also from Walmart for $5 each.

Same fabric again. I got the lamp from my mom. It had a floral print shade so I just ripped it off and glued this fabric to it. Yes, I do know that it is upside down. I did not notice until I was done though. Oh well, you live and you learn.
